Great - Contemporary Roman Millefiore Patella
This is a extremely well made and sexy piece of glass to hold and is a copy of an Early Imperial Roman Patella (bowl) which was produced in 2001 by UK glass artists by Mark Taylor & David Hill from The Glassmakers studio. The few examples they sell cost $2,000 GBP = $2,480 - See example
I’ve corresponded with Mark and he said they produced this patella #1060 back in 2001 and sold it through a gallery in Fishburne on the SE cost of England. He said that they don’t produce millefiori glass anymore as it’s too costly to produce and they only have 4 similar patella’s still available and the they don’t even produce them for special orders of it anymore. In any event, a fabulous piece of glass and certainly as well executed as the best Muano was.
